The Burning Crusade and you

The Burning Crusade and You!

As you all know come January 16th, our world… of warcraft will be changing forever. I am of course speaking of the expansion pack also known as “The Burning Crusade.” Now what does this mean for you? Potentially nothing if you don’t want it to. Purchasing the expansion is completely optional. You will be able to continue playing the game as normal if you choose not to purchase the expansion. However, you will be missing out on quite a bit of new and exciting zones, races, items, creatures, and lore. The following is a brief overview of what you will be gaining followed by a walk through the first zone in Outland to give you a taste of what’s to come. If your one of those people that doesn’t like spoilers, you might want to skip it. Personally, I’m one of those who always knew what was under the Christmas tree… I don’t like surprises! Enjoy!

Basic Info

*As I already stated The Burning Crusade will be released on January 16th, 2007. If youre smart… or err crazy you already have a copy reserved. You will need to purchase one copy for each account. Like me for example… I have 3 >.< Which means I would have to purchase 3 copies at $39.99. However I only bought 2… Sorry Cele you’re on your own!

*With BC the level cap will be raised to 70. The level 60-70 grind takes roughly the same amount of exp as the 1-60 grind. However the amount of experience gain you receive from killing monsters has been raised. You can expect to get about 600 non rested or 1200 rested from a normal mob around your level. And even more if you can solo the elites /flex. Now if you do not purchase the expansion, you will not be able to level, you will continue on as normal. You of course will be able to see and interact with the level 70’s but you cant be one yourself 

* There are 3 new zones for your exploring pleasure. The 2 new zones for the Dranei and Blood Elves respectively, and the new 60-70 area of Outland. Again, these three zones along with the new battleground are housed on a different server than the rest of Azeroth, so if you don’t have the expansion you’re not getting in.

*With the expansion comes the new profession of jewel crafting. Jewel Crafting will allow you to make rings and necklaces for all levels as long with trinkets and cut jems for socketing at higher levels. Jewel crafting goes best with mining as you will need plenty of metals and jems found in the veins to do the crafting. Along with getting a whole new profession, your current professions will also have a new level cap of 375 available to learn from a grand master trainer at level 55. Again, if you do not have the expansion installed you will not be able to reach the 375 cap because the new trainers are only in Outland. They can be found at your fraction’s keep in Hellfire, Honor Hold and Thrallmar respectively. The first aid trainers on the other hand are at the Blood Elf tower and Dranei temple in the same zone.

*There are no class trainers anywhere in Outland. You must return to Azeroth for that. However, I would advise getting the Shatt City (I’m not even going to try to spell it) flight path as soon as possible. Shatt provides portals back to all the capital cities of both fractions. Shatt also offers to fractions of it’s own to align with, the Aldor and the Scryers. Choose wisely, look at the rep items and available enchants before making a decision. Just because you are Horde doesn’t mean you must align with the Blood Elf fraction and visa versa. Like every fraction, you pay dearly if you decide to switch.

*So you’ve always dreamed of flying? Well now you can! Once you reach level 70 you will be able to purchase flying mounts. The mounts themselves are relatively cheap at around 100g for a normal flying mount and 200g for an epic. Unfortunately the riding training comes at a very steep price of 5000g to ride an epic flying mount! Normal flying training is 800g. While the rest of us must wait until level 70 to get our wings, our lucky Druid friends get flight form at level 68. They don’t fly as fast as the mounts do, but hey, they get it 2 levels early and they get to be a Storm Crow! How cool is that?! All of these modes of flying transportation are only useable in Outland, so no flying into Stormwind or Org to carryout a flying assault!

So You Wanna go to Outland?

So how do I get there anyway?
